Please Welcome Our New Blogger Team!

Posted by Joy Davis on

Thank you so much to everyone who took the time to apply to be on our blogging team. We were blown away by both the quantity and standard of the applications we received and it was so hard to choose!

I am thrilled to introduce you to our seven new bloggers:

I'm Choo and I'm a 30 something woman who lives in Norfolk with a tall man and two crazy felines. I have an unwavering love of the sea, noodle soup and I may also have a minor obsession with the colour mustard. I'm a busy SENDCO by day, a job that I absolutely adore, even if it can be a little all consuming. I had lots of hand made clothes growing up and my mum (who is an avid quilter too) got me sewing from a young age. Nowadays, I sew to unwind and I am always on a quest to create the monochrome capsule wardrobe of my dreams!

Hello, I’m Jane and I’m based in the heart of Suffolk. I design and make cheerful, useful textiles that combine traditional skills with a modern eye for colour. My work has been published in books and magazines in the UK and the USA, and I've been teaching patchwork and quilting for nearly two decades. I sell quilts and other sewn loveliness through my Etsy shop - Beaded Garden - and at local craft fairs and stockists.

Hi I’m Kate, I live in Ridgmont, Bedfordshire which is about 40 minutes away from the lovely Escape and Create. I work in a busy corporate job and sewing is my mindfulness, it helps me relax and unwind from a hectic day. I’ve sewn for years but only recently got back into making clothes for me and my family. I challenged myself not to buy clothes for a year and I haven’t looked back since. Now about half my wardrobe is me made. Even though I’m not quite fifty yet I’ve been lucky enough to work with the amazing women in SewOver50 on their #so50visible campaign which was featured in February’s Love Sewing magazine.

Hello! My name is Mel and I live in Kent, where I work full-time as a primary school teacher. I have been quilting for 10 years and dressmaking for around six, although recently I have been making more clothes than quilts! I absolutely love sewing and I look forward to sitting down at my machine every day to work on a project - even if I only have a few minutes to spare. I am often supervised by my furry sewing assistant, Mog the cat. When I'm not sewing I can usually be found baking cakes or eating them.

I’m Samantha and I live in the northeast of England and I’m a garment sewist. I love sewing with wovens but I do dabble with knits too. When I’m not sewing I’m thinking about sewing and my next fabric purchase to add to my collection! I’m also co-hosting a yearlong sewing challenge called Sewing Patterns and Prints, which you can read more about here.

Hi, my name is Stacey, although I’m better known as Crafty Lil Mouse. I live in Yorkshire and have been crafting in one form or another for 15 years. I’ve always enjoyed making things and have recently found a love for creating useful things from fabrics. I enjoy sharing my projects and have been blogging since 2012.

Hi, Stacie here, also known as Notions of a Dressmaker! I began sewing in 2018 as I was looking for something to do in the evenings. Little did I know, it would very quickly turn into an obsession! Sewing is now a part of my life, every single day. The majority of my "sewcial" life now revolves around sewing or stroking fabric! In fact, I even work in a factory full of sewing machines! I live with my husband, two daughters and our dog in South Wales, and we love our little family routine of Sunday afternoon walks and pizza and movie nights. Once the girls are in bed I usually find myself torn between my sewing room, or a glass of red wine and Netflix!

You can follow Stacie on Instagram at @notions_of_a_dressmaker and see her blog here. Her dress fabric is available here.

We'll be sharing a blog each month and we can't wait to see what our wonderful team with make with our fabrics! You can follow along with their makes on instagram at #EscapeCreateBlog
