Dressmaking - Shirts (3 Week Daytime Course)
Take your dressmaking to the next level with this 3 week course focused on shirt making techniques.
We'll be covering collars, collar stands, plackets, cuffs, the burrito method for adding a yoke facing and of course buttonholes. Phew!
You'll make a shirt over the three weeks to practice your techniques.
This course is designed for those who are already making garments regularly. You will need to collect the pattern from us prior to the course and:
- Make any pattern adjustments you need (such as full/small bust adjustment; lengthen/shorten; height of bust point)
- Cut out your pattern
- Obtain your fabric, wash it and cut it out
- Add all the markings (including pleats, where the plackets are positioned)
- You don't need to interface anything prior to the course though.
Then, there will be some homework to do between the sessions including basic seaming, finishing, darts, inserting the sleeves (on the flat) which you will need to complete to make sure that you are at the required start point for the next class.
The pattern is included in the price of the course. We use New Look 6232 as it is a unisex pattern that has all the features we want to concentrate on.
Materials are not included.
Dates: Friday 30th May; 13th and 20th June.
If you are not sure about how to do some of the pre-course work; you would be best to sign up to either our Beginners Dressmaking course or one of our Dressmaking Days first.
Time: 2.00pm - 4.30pm
Price: £70.00
