Classes - What to Bring (Requirements List) - Applique Trees Christmas Table Runner

Requirements List - Applique Trees Christmas Table Runner

Project Requirements

  • Fabric Scraps for the End Panels and Trees (or 10cm each of 6 fabrics which will be enough for the end panels and the trees if your runner is up to 110cm long).
  • Background Fabric (between 30cm and 50cm - depending on how wide you want the runner. The length of the runner is maximum 120cm long - if you want it longer you will need to at least double the amount of fabric required)
  • Backing Fabric - as per background.
  • Binding Fabric - 20cm x 110cm or 1 Fat Quarter or min 3m bias binding depending on size.
  • Wadding - as per background. You can use fusible fleece (H640) or Thermolam or traditional wadding (my version uses fusible fleece).
  • Bondaweb - 1 packet or 20cm.
  • Coordinating thread for the trees (I used red/green to match. You could use variegated)
  • Metallic thread for quilting (optional - I used plain white).
  • Bobbinfil thread (optional).

Equipment

  • Sewing Machine, Foot pedal and power cable (clean and in good working order)
  • The Instruction Book
  • Spare Machine Bobbins (must be the correct ones for your machine)
  • All the feet and accessories that came with the machine (satin stitch or clear view foot very useful for this project)
  • Universal Sewing Machine Needles Size 90
  • Cutting out scissors or rotary cutter
  • Paper scissors
  • Small Pair of scissors with small pointed tip
  • Unpicker/Seam Ripper
  • Tape measure or quilting ruler (inches)
  • Sewing clips and pins
  • Pen, pencil and a ruler
  • Pressing Cloth and Interfacing Cloth (where class involves using interfacing or bondaweb).

All Machine Sewing Classes

We do not provide sewing machines for classes as we believe that you will learn more from using your own machine. If your machine is too heavy to lift; let us know before the class and we can make exception by prior arrangement.

We can help you to get your sewing machine from your car to the workshop space upstairs if you pull up outside the shop on the double yellow lines to drop it off. Then you can go and park in the car park behind.

Lunch Breaks

If your class goes over lunchtime you can either:

  • Bring your lunch with you
  • Pre-order your lunch from the lovely cafe opposite the shop (The Commute). They also now do takeway sandwiches and paninis.

Our classes generally only break for a maximum 30 minutes so there isn't really time to go out and buy lunch during the day.

We have tea and coffee available all day free of charge. In classes less than 3 hours we ask that you come early and make a drink before we start if you would like one.
