Learn to Sew (5 Week Course - Evenings)
Our classic learn to sew course that will introduce lots of essential skills and enable you to start with the best sewing habits.
We start with the absolute basics and cover an array of modern techniques including tension, seam finishes, stabilisers and zips. You'll get a whistle stop tour around patchwork, bag making and how to read a dressmaking pattern.
We also spend time trouble shooting so if something happens when you are sewing on your own you know what to do about it.
Along the way, you'll make some beautiful items to treasure. These might include a cushion cover; sewing mat; zipped purse or shopping bag.
You will need to bring your own sewing machine to the class so that you can learn how it works and what functionality/feet it has. If you haven't bought one yet; we can give you some advice in the first week so that you can buy with confidence.
Full notes and handouts are included along with all the patterns we use.
We will also go through some of the essential tools so there is no need to rush out and buy everything before the first class.
Dates: Monday 21st & 28th September; 5th, 12th and 19th October
Time: 7pm-9.30pm.
All patterns we use are included in the price of the course; but the materials are not. If you aren't sure about whether you have the right equipment or fabric just bring what you have on the first session and we will happily advise.
