Dressmaking - Shirt Dress (3 Week Course Advanced)
Join us and make the wonderful Hughes Dress by Friday Pattern Company.
Over 3 weeks, you will be guided through princess seams; button stands and set in sleeves. Whilst the original pattern has ties on the back; you will have the option to either make the ties or transfer the fit into shirred elastic.
You must be confident in the use of your sewing machine and have made other garments already to join this course - it is not a beginners dressmaking course. If you are not sure about your experience, do ask us before booking.
The pattern is included in this class but the materials are not. The standard pattern comes in a size range of hips 35" to 49". If you require a pattern above this size range, we can happily provide but we will need to order it in so we will need at least 2 weeks notice.
You will need to pick up the pattern prior to the class and roughly cut around the largest size of each pattern piece beforehand so that we are ready to go with sizing and pattern adjustments at the start.
This forms part of our Capsule Wardrobe Sew Along which offers a 3 week course every half term including Shirt Dress in Jan/Feb; Skirt in April/May; Summer Dress in June/July. Trousers in Sept and Coat in Nov.
We'll cover an array of dressmaking skills on these courses so they are an ideal follow on from our Start Dressmaking course. For each additional course you sign up to you will receive a 5% discount (e.g. your 2nd course will be 5% off, 3rd course 10% off, 4th course 15% off etc). To obtain the discount you will need to book in the shop.
