Soft Furnishings (Curtains)
Learn the professional way to make curtains.
We'll learn how to measure up, how to work out pattern repeats, construction including gathered and pencil pleat headings and if there's time we'll add in some more unusual heading types or pelmets. You'll learn how to handle large pieces of fabrics and get lots of tips from our experienced tutor.
You'll make a sample header on the day so that there is time to fit in all the elements. (Curtain making has a lot of hand sewing so if we allowed you to bring your own curtains to make, you'd spend a lot of time repeating the same thing over and over and missing out on learning some of the key points).
You need to be able to confidently thread and use a sewing machine to join this class but you do not need a lot of sewing machine experience.
The header tape and lining fabrics are included in the price of the class. You will need to bring 1m of furnishing weight fabric and matching thread to use for your samples.
