Capsule Wardrobe - Course 2

Ever fancied making your own coat, but maybe lack confidence to give it a go?

This course is an ideal introduction to handling heavy weight fabrics and learning lots of coat making tips.

We'll learn by making an unlined, unconstructed coat; made from a heavy fabric with some drape.

We'll be using Burda 7700 but extending the length from a short jacket into a mid thigh coat. (Don't be fooled by the pictures on the pattern envelope into thinking it's more of a jacket. We will be making version B which both Julie and Pamela have made as full length coats and love to bits. There will also be the option to straighten up the front seam if you prefer. Julie will be doing this on the course as she wants another one!).

This forms part of our Capsule Wardrobe Sew Along which offers a 3 week course every half term. For each additional course you sign up to you will receive a 5% discount (e.g. your 2nd course will be 5% off, 3rd course 10% off, 4th course 15% off up to a maximum of 20% discount).

You do need dressmaking experience to join this course.

The pattern is included in the price of the course but the materials are not. You will not be expected to cut out your pattern prior to the course as there are many variations we can make; including making it much longer; changing the assymetric front to a straight front and also making it more casual by adding a hood which we will guide you through.

Dates:  TO FOLLOW. If you would like to make this coat, do let us know and we will add you to the list to see if there is enough demand to add a further course (likely Autumn 2025).

Time: 2pm - 5pm
