Dressmaking - Techniques (3 Week Course) Thursday afternoons
A techniques course for dressmakers who want to improve their skills.
Run over 3 weeks we will cover:
Week 1 - Trousers - bring your own trouser pattern with a fixed waistband and some toile fabric and learn how to fit any trouser pattern to your body based on pattern measurements and your own body measurements, crotch length etc. Learn how to insert a fly zip.
Week 2 - drafting different forms of waistbands for skirts and trousers, a faced waistband, straight waistbands and curved waistbands - how to adapt a pattern and draft your own. Bring a fitted trouser or skirt pattern as your starting point.
Week 3 - drafting different sleeve shapes, eg puff, cap, flared, gathered into a cuff, a bishop sleeve, a lantern sleeve - bring your own plain full length sleeve pattern as a starting point, some tracing paper, paper scissors, rulers, pencils and a glue stick.
