Even the most basic sewing machine can be used to create decorative effects and providing the feed dogs on your machine can be lowered or covered, you can also do Free Motion/Machine Embroidery.

During this workshop you will learn how to do Free Motion Machine (FME) work and explore many ideas for decorative sewing by machine.   All of these techniques can then be used on any projects that you like.

Using FME you will be able to use two methods and learn how to achieve success with different fabrics and threads. You will also explore decorative machine techniques such as using metallic and embroidery threads, trying the built-in decorative stitches on your machine, using a twin needle and learn how to make cords and braids.

You'll make samples of all these techniques and make a small needle case too!

The course is suitable for those who are confident in using the sewing machine for straight and zig-zag sewing. Your sewing machine needs to be able to drop the feed dogs to be able to do free motion embroidery and you will need a darning/embroidery foot. Ask us if you are not sure.
